VISITING CORSICA PART 2 - CORSE-DU-SUD

Remember a few weeks ago I told you that I went on holiday to Corsica, well here is the second instalment of the trip, what I got up during the first week, in the southern part of the island near the town of Sartene.

The town of Sartene, set on the mountainside, this is described as the most 'Corsican of Corsica's town', is full of little cobbled streets, a beautiful town square and a spectacular view.

The dramatic Alta Rocca, we took an inland walk from Quenza to Zonza, through forested paths, crossing stream and rivers where we were able to go swimming, inland swimming is the best, but a little chilly!

Corsica, although well known for beautiful bays and beaches, go inland and there is just the same great spots for swimming such as underneath this Genoese bridge, Spin a Cavallu, take a picnic and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings.

The historic Filitosa, for a small fee you can wander around the dramatic escarpment, home to the prehistoric site where there are over 20 menhirs (standing stones), all with unique carvings.

Corsica is full of beautiful beaches, with white shell sand and crystal clear waters, visit the Lion de Roccapina, a lion shaped rock overlooking a picture perfect bay. Although this one is typically very popular follow the coast round for several miles and you can find yourself on secluded beaches.

Corsica is such a beautiful place, I'm sure I'll visit again, check back soon as I'll be telling you about the area of St. Florent.
